How do you start blogging alongside your full-time job? You work for a company, but you have read that you can earn a lot of money with a blog or website.
As a result, you have become enthusiastic and wonder how you can do that alongside your job.
The ultimate goal is to replace your job for a career as an online entrepreneur with your blog, so that you can live a free life and decide for yourself where, when you work and how much you work.
In this blog post, I will tell you how you can start your blog while you are still working your 9-5 job.
Why Start a blog?
With a blog, you can write about anything you want. If you are very interested in football, you could write a blog about it. Indeed, there are enough products that you could sell or promote and thus make money with blogging.
Also, blogging gives you a lot of freedom, and you don’t have to worry about it for hours every day.
By spending one hour a day on your blog, you can go a long way in the long term, and the chances are that your blog will become your primary source of income.
Also, when you start a blog, you are immediately your boss. You decide what to display on your website, how often something to show and which products you want to sell or promote.
In addition, blogging is a very creative process from which you can learn a lot. Not only will you become a better writer, but it is also suitable for your creativity and development.
Nowhere have I learned so much as from the moment I started blogging. I now run my own blog and have built it from scratch.
This way, you can also start blogging and see how it works. As long as you don’t start, nothing happens, so starting is the first step.

How can you start alongside your job?
A frequently asked questions by beginner bloggers or people who are considering starting a blog is, how can I begin alongside my job?
I started alongside my college, and I still have a part-time job next to it. It was tough as I had to study for exams, I had a part-time job but still managed to build my blog.
If you want to start alongside your job, you have to sacrifice time for that.
Ask yourself what do you do after work and what you could replace for an hour working on your blog.
Usually, not much happens after work except dinner, watching TV, and going to bed. If you would trade watching TV for 1 hour a day for an hour of working on your online business alone, the chances are that you will earn a nice income in years from your blog.
Although you can earn a lot of money with your blog, it is not evident that this will happen. If it already happened, the question is how long it will take before you start earning money.
That is entirely dependent on what niche you have chosen and how much time you are willing to set aside for your blogging business.
Most beginners stop after a few weeks because they expect that they will earn a full-time income after a month.
If you are serious about starting a blog, it is also essential that you realize that success does not just come to the surface. For that, you have to go deeply through the dust, especially in the beginning.
But if you can handle that and you can overcome the initial phase, a full-time income will come faster than you think.
What do you have to do to become successful?
To become successful with a blog, there are several essential things that you must know and do.
Especially if you are going to do it alongside your work, you generally have less time to work on your blog.
You have to do it in the late hours after work, and that is not something everyone can do. Especially if you have a physically demanding job, it can be challenging to sit behind your laptop after work.
That is why it is good to know that it is well worth the effort and that your hard work will be rewarded in the long run. If you don’t give up.
#1. Organize your time well
One of the most important things to do if you want to start a blog next to your job is to organize your time well.
After you’ve worked, primarily if you work full time, you don’t have much time left. It is then a good idea to agree with your partner(if you have) that you spend 1 hour every day on your online business.
Choose for yourself what the best hour is for that. If you really can’t get to blog after work, you can always choose to get up an hour earlier to get started blogging before you go to work.
No matter how heavy this all sounds, once you have found a routine, it becomes a habit, you see much more relaxed, and till that, you will find it increasingly difficult at the beginning to get started.
Especially as soon as you start seeing results, it becomes more and more fun to blog, because your dream gets closer and closer.
#2. Make a plan
In addition to organizing your time, it is also crucial that you know where you want to go.
Think for yourself what you want to achieve this year and think for yourself what you can do to make that.
For example, if you want to get 1000 visitors a month to your blog, you know that you can blog for that, promote your blog alongside through Pinterest marketing.
As soon as you know where you want to go, you can work much more focused, and you will not be tempted to do all sorts of other things.
Some online marketers tell you that you need to be present on all social media platforms if you want to become successful. Nevertheless, I can recommend from experience that it is better to first focus on one platform for promotion (in this case it’s Pinterest).
If you first ensure that you have your blog well organized and have found a routine in it, only then is it time to engage a second platform.
This way, you keep an overview for yourself, and you don’t have to spend a lot of time on all kinds of side tasks.
#3. Work on your blog for at least one hour a day
As mentioned earlier, getting a routine is super important. Especially when you have a full-time job, you can easily give yourself a day off.
I know all about that. Only when I created a routine for myself and knew what I had to do every day did it become easier to appear and work on my blog for at least an hour every day.
I now work on my blog for 2-3 hours a day, and sometimes I find it a shame that the 3 hours have already passed. Yet it is also essential to set limits for yourself so that, in addition to working on your online business, you also free up time for your friends and family.
If you already work 40 hours a week and add another 7 hours a week by starting a blog, your time suddenly becomes minimal. Nevertheless, it is vital to learn to find the right balance between work and leisure.
I try to match the times of my own business with the hours of my family. When they are free, I also try to keep my time open so that we also have free time together.
#4. Don’t look at the statistics too much
Especially in the beginning, you can quickly become addicted to looking at the statistics.
When I just started my blog, I looked at my Google analytics data at least ten times a day where I could see how many visitors came to my blog every day.
I then closed analytics and went on to the Google Search Console, where I could view the performance of my website in the search engines.
Immediately afterward, I went to the websites of the various affiliate networks where I had registered to see how many people had already clicked on my links.
This, of course, takes a lot of time, and you can spend that time much better, especially in the beginning, on building your blog.
Now I only look at my statistics once a week at most, and I notice that since I don’t look that often anymore, it is always a positive surprise what the results per week are.
Also, since I don’t look at statistics that much anymore, I have a lot more peace of mind when building my online business, because I’m more focused on creating content than on tracking sales and visitor numbers.
#5. Learn, learn and learn even more
As soon as you start a blog, you begin a gigantic experience where you learn more than you have ever learned in school or your life.
There are so many things you need to know and what to look out for.
You also learn excellent life lessons by starting a blog. That is because if you have patience and a lot of discipline, many beautiful things can happen.
Most beginners want success as quickly as possible and are only focused on creating a full-time income as soon as possible or becoming a millionaire as quickly as possible.
As soon as you put the entire urge for selling aside and really start building a beautiful blog that benefits people, you will find that it contributes much more to your success.
Everything about starting a blog is 100% about giving value. The more value you give to your visitors, the more they value you for that and the sooner those visitors will buy something from you.
#6. Don’t give up
To be successful with your blog, it is especially important that you do not give up. In some rare cases, it can take two years before you earn more than $250 a month.
It is important that starting a blog is a kind of snowball effect. Every blog post that you create now will contribute to your income in the future. Even the first blog post you wrote.
The more great content you add, the more significant that snowball becomes and the more money you can eventually earn.
For that, you have to bite through the sour apple in the beginning and keep going even if you don’t see any results.
Only the people who went ahead are now thriving. That is why it is precisely the strategy that you must follow. A long-term approach.
#7. Think long term
Mainly because it doesn’t work in the beginning, many beginners give up. That’s why it’s a good idea to think in years.
Consider for yourself where you want to be in 5 years and what you want to achieve with your blog.
Then view each year how you have come closer to that goal. If you apply a longer-term strategy, the chances are that you will come closer to your goals every year.
The long term always wins over a short time.
#8. Set extremely high goals
Mainly because you are going to work with a long-term strategy, it is crucial that you also set high goals.
Many beginners dream of earning $2000 a month, which is excellent.
But there are many successful bloggers who earn at least $20,000 a month or even a million a year.
Since it is possible to earn a massive amount of money with your blog, it is not a good idea to set small goals.
On the other hand, you can set small goals (sub-goals) that will get you closer to your big goal.
