Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways to make money from your blog.
The programs like Clickbank, Jvzoo, Warriorplus, ShareASale, etc. offers everyone a chance to make money online easily.
Because these affiliate marketing programs can be joined quickly, implemented, and get commissions regularly. More people are joining these programs.
However, like other businesses, there are many pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business.
Making these common affiliate marketing mistakes costs bloggers a lot of money in the long term. That is why it is better to avoid them than to regret it later.
Mistake #1: Choosing the Wrong Product to Promote
Many bloggers want to make money as soon as possible with affiliate marketing from their blog.
In a rush to make money quickly, you tend to choose a random affiliate product. It is a type of product you think is hot without even thinking you like the product or not. It’s not a wise move.
Instead of jumping to a random affiliate product that you think is hot and trending, you have to choose a product that interest you.
For every product you choose to promote, you must take time to plan and figure out the process.
Choose a product that appeals to you. Then do specific research about the product to see if there is a demand for it.
Promoting a product that you have used, liked, and passionate about is much easier than promoting a random product/services for the sake of profit.
Mistake #2: Joining too many affiliate programs
Since it’s effortless to join affiliate programs. You might be tempted to try and maximize earnings by entering as many affiliate programs as you can.
Besides, you might think there is nothing wrong, joining many affiliate programs.
Promoting too many products of the same genre looks like a scam unless you are a comparison site or review site.
For example, in website hosting, I use, recommend, and promote only Bluehost Hosting. If I want, I could promote all major hosting providers like Godaddy, SiteGround, Inmotion Hosting, etc.
But I choose not to because I want to promote only the hosting I feel is the best, and I recommend.
By doing this, you are building a long term business and trust with your customer.
Mistake #3: Promoting Without Buying the Product or Using the Service.
As an affiliate marketer, your primary goal is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service to the customers.
To promote a product successfully to the customer, you should be able to convince them that this is the right product for them.
It is therefore tough for you to do this if you have not tried the product or service you are promoting.
As you have not tried the product or services, you will fail to show your customers the value the products/services brings to them.
I personally don’t recommend or promote any products that I haven’t used because you cannot know the quality of the product or services.
Try the product or service yourself before you promote it. Try it and make sure it really delivers what it promises.
If you do so, then you know the advantages and disadvantages of the product/services you want to promote, which will help you to build trust with your community.
Many bloggers make these affiliate marketing mistakes, which will end up as a disaster in the long term.
The last thing you want is that your customer is blaming you for recommending low-quality products for them.
